Let me ask you a question Nate. Do you believe the Bible is God’s holy Word. If your answer is yes, then what you are saying is, that every time you pick up the Bible and start to read it. You are believing that it is God speaking directly to you. If this is the case! That’s a good place to start. Continue to believe that it is God speaking when you read. And the Holy Spirit will begin to quicken the Word to you. He will allow you to read in between the lines (so to speak). He will reveal things to you that you never knew before. And you will begin to hear God’s voice in your heart speaking to you. His written Word, is His voice. The Holy Spirit will begin to instruct you, and lead you into all truth. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things that pertain to life, and godliness if we’ll allow Him to. What I’m saying is a lot of times we want to hear God with the same kind of voice that we’d hear from a good friend that’s standing right in front of us. God can speak to us like that in a audible voice. But in most situations, He wont. He choses to communicate with us spirit to spirit. His Holy Spirit, to our human spirit. He speaks with a still small voice. That’s why it’s so important that we spend quality time every day in God’s Holy book. It’s through serious devotional time, that we come to know Him. It’s been said that God is always speaking. Question is, are we listening. Spending time fellowshipping with Him around His Word, is one of the best ways I know to get to know Him, and to hear His voice. God has placed His thoughts in the 66 books of the Bible. And He’s waiting for us to discover what they are.
Father we pray that Nate will have such a un quenchable thirst for Your Word. That all he can think about is spending time with You, discovering all the plans that You have for his life. Speak to him through Your Word Lord. He waits to hear from You. 3. Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.” (Je. 33:3 AMP).
