I lost my daughter almost a year ago to fentanyl poisoning. She was 22. As we get closer to the anniversary date, I remember seeing her for the last time around this time. It is incredibly difficult to remember memories we made less than a year ago that are now no more. The grief is gut wrenching. I had her when I was 15 years old and am convinced she was born to break the chains. Because of the light that was in her, I found my way to Jesus. So much of my identity was wrapped up in this child and now I am struggling to know who I am and what God plans for me. I do know we were called to rip the veil off of shame affiliated with sexual assault and substance abuse but I don’t see the clear path to fulfill this. I’m trusting God with each day… that she was his child first an whatever “mission” comes out of this pain he will cover. Please pray for the grief to be bearable, my marriage to sustain through these difficult times, and for God to rule and reign in my career as I pray over next steps. #ShoutAgainstShame is my daughter’s story. She preached her own funeral. She sure did love her some Jesus but he loved her more ♥️
